DepositLetter is a free, browser-based tool for generating security deposit return letters. This page explains exactly what we collect and what we do not.
The landlord name, tenant name, addresses, dates, deposit amounts, and itemized deductions you enter into the form are never sent to our servers. The letter is rendered locally in your browser and printed or saved as PDF through your browser's own print dialog. We do not store, log, or transmit those values.
We use PostHog to measure aggregate usage. PostHog records:
We do not send the contents of your letter to PostHog. We do not set identifying cookies and we do not use session recording or autocapture.
If you choose to submit your email address through the "Get Updates" form, that email is sent to a third-party form provider (Formspree) and forwarded to us. We use it only to notify you when new landlord tools launch. We do not sell or share your email.
We do not set first-party cookies. PostHog may set a small number of cookies to deduplicate page views; these contain no personal data beyond what is described above.
To request deletion of your email from our list, or removal of associated PostHog event history, email privacy@depositletter.com.
If we change how the site collects or uses data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
